Toronto's Seafood Festival at the St. Lawrence Market
August 13 - 15, 2004
The 4th annual Feast of St. Lawrence will take place in and around the St. Lawrence Market Complex. Toronto and area seafood restaurants and suppliers, including many from the St. Lawrence Market itself, will be on hand to sample seafood in a "Taste of" format. The menu items will include items such as Lobster, Mussels, Oysters and a wide variety of fish. A selection of Ontario wines will also be on hand to sample. The tasting portion of the event will run, and Saturday August 14, noon - 10:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 15, Noon - 6:00 p.m. Admission to this event is free. If you wish to sample you can purchase a sample glass for $5 and sample token for a $1 each. For more information, call 416-304-0144
The Market will also host the second Annual North American Oyster Shucking Championships. Oyster Shuckers form both coasts and both countries (Canada & US) will compete in this true cross-border bi-costal Oyster Shucking Championships. The preliminary rounds will run on Saturday Noon to 5 p.m. with the Championship Round Starting Sunday at 3 p.m. The event will take place on Market Street, next to the South Market.
The Treasures of St. Lawrence is also back this year. Local residents and some arts and crafts dealers will fill the Front St side walk with tables of treasures for sale. Once again this year proceeds will go to the Community Bulletin's Emergency Fund. The event runs Saturday, August 14, 8:00am - 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 15, 10:00am - 5:00 p.m. Admission to this event is free.
