South Market, Front Street, Berczy Park

The St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood joins the City of Toronto and lights up the festive season with the Cavalcade of Lights. The South Market will be adorned with a Victorian scene commerating Charles Dickens' visit in 1842. The Front Street lamp posts will wear their nutcracker costumes and Berczy Park will host a 28-foot snowflake tree.

The annual St. Lawrence Market Toy Drive will be receiving donations new, unwrapped toys in the box inside the main front doors of the South Market.

Food & History Shows in The Kitchen

Saturdays at 12 noon, South Market, West Mezzanine

kitchenfoodbannersmall.gif - 18964 Bytes Each show features a 15-20 minute talk by Bruce Bell, the Market Historian, or Bill Genova, tour guide, on the history of the Market buildings and Old Town Toronto.

Following that, Market vendors or notable food experts present demonstrations, samplings and/or discussions on food. The food portion of the show lasts 20-30 minutes and changes each week. See The Kitchen for upcoming events.

The Food and History Shows take place in The Kitchen, located on the West Mezzanine of the South Market, and accessible via the stairs or elevator from the main lobby. For more information on the development of this area, see The Kitchen page.
