Our first blog; and where to begin…

Let’s introduce ourselves. The words behind the keyboard belong to Rebecca Grima and Gabrielle Bright, Gabrielle being foodie extraordinaire and me, well, I help spread the word about how lucky we are to have a world renowned market in our own backyard.

When first looking at redoing our website, we wanted to start a blog so we could share our stories of the market. Like meeting John Horne, the executive chef at Canoe Restaurant, who told me that whenever he does inventory, the first thing he does is send his staff down to pick up a peameal bacon sandwich (oh by the way, you can meet John as he is part of our executive chef series in 2012); or being visited by media from Argentina, Brazil, China, the US and the list goes on; or listening to the merchants show us photos of their loved ones who many years ago started the business that continues on today.

And well, of course, the food! Because to work here takes sheer willpower. It’s hard not to stuff your face when you are surrounded by all of the ‘deliciousness’ of the market.

So we hope you enjoy the tidbits of information we share and we welcome your comments and requests for anything that you would like to know about the Market.
